A Daunting Task Ahead

Following breakfast we all went to the Ministry Center for a look at the work that needs done there. This is an amazing building. The first floor is over 10,000 square feet and it has a full basement utility room, as well as a full second floor and partial third. The original owner of the property donated this to the Keystone Project after shutting down the finances on construction once they reached about $10,000,000.00. It was projected to originally cost half that to build it, but there were many cost overruns and much of the building has remained unfinished. At first we did not think we had adequate electrical drawings, but that may not be the case, so later today we will be going over all that we have to figure out a plan of attack. This large I-TEC team will certainly only be able to begin the process, as it will take many such teams to complete a project this enormous. With God's help we will do what we can to help the Keystone Project begin to take advantage of a building that has up to now been relatively unused. The photos here show some of the existing work. It has been very professionally done to this point, but the original electrical contractor is not immediately involved, and may not be very helpful to us.

The weather is closing in on us here with the threat of significant snowfall by Tuesday, so some of us are going to visit Mount Rushmore this afternoon, ahead of the bad weather and the extensive work we will be involved in this week ahead. We did have a very good church service in the hotel's Safari Room. You will understand why it is called that by the photo. The rest of the photos are from the Ministry Center. Keep us in your prayers and pray that others will see the vision of the Keystone Project and be willing to donate some of their efforts to make this worthwhile ministry effective.

WE ARE HERE

The first eleven team members arrived safely at the Rushmore Express Hotel in Keystone, South Dakota, after enjoying a meal together in the Rapid City Golden Corral Restaurant. The temperature here is in the mid-60's, but the skies are overcast for the most part. Some of the flights were a little bumpy on the way in.



The town is pretty well deserted this time of the year and the hotel is only open to the I-TEC team.

Of course the Ministry Center is where we will be working the next week.


Just outside the hotel some mule deer were feeding by the side of the road. And if you walk down the street just a little way you can see Mount Rushmore, which is several miles away.


Once the entire team is here we will post a photo of the group. We have a lot to do this week and are anxious to get started. Tomorrow when we get to the Ministry Center, and have a better grasp of the work to be done we will give more details.
